By stringing together second-place finishes at Talladega, Dover and Kansas, Alex Bowman became the first driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to finish runner-up in three straight races prior to capturing his first premier series victory.

But the Tucson, Arizona, native is far from the first driver to just miss out on victory in three consecutive races, and his result in the Digital Ally 400 put him in some elite company.

NASCAR.com put together the list of drivers with three runner-up finishes in a row in the modern era, and it contains some legendary names like NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty (1975), David Pearson (1977), Darrell Waltrip (1978, 1983), Bobby Allison (1981), Mark Martin (1998) and Jeff Gordon (1998, 1999) along with seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson (2006).
