Another big race for the Freightliner trucks took place at the Trióvalo Internacional of Cajititlán in Guadalajara, where Axalta Team driver Michel Jourdain Jr. fought until the end with Abraham Calderón, Salvador de Alba and Rubén Pardo to conquer the podium in the second-to-last race of the 2018 season, with Jourdain finally cementing second place in the competition.
In the end, the difference between Michel Jourdain Jr. and Salvador de Alba was just milliseconds after an entire race of overtakes, run-ins and emotions — all part of the usual respectful environment among drivers of the asphalt monsters, the most spectacular competition on Mexican race tracks.
Michel and Axalta’s incredible truck’s best moment happened halfway through the competition when they hit their quickest pace during Lap 12 at 40.68 seconds, even faster than Salvador de Alba’s top lap of 40.80 seconds. This goes to show how competitive the series is.
With this result, Team Axalta strengthens its position on the second spot in the competition. And with one more race to go, another great season for the partnership between Axalta, the leading liquid and powder coatings company, and legendary Mexican driver Michel Jourdain Jr. is nearly complete.
The last race of the season will take place on Dec. 2 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City where, like each year, we expect a full house for all competitions, from NASCAR Peak to Freightliner Trucks, as Jourdain hopes to keep his good form going and reach the podium in front of Mexico City’s fans.
